The Logic Consultancy Model
Enterprise Business Integration Model is an integrated logic/conceptual model. It aims at intercepting knowledge at every level of company’s organization through four knowledge levels corresponding to as many models:
data model;
application model;
business process model;
business intelligence model.
Once defined, the four models will be integrated as to form the only model of reference useable within the Company in order to formalize any aspect of the business.
Therefore, the Enterprise Business Integration Model becomes a sort of corporate hologram. It can reflect the entire structure based on business knowledge integration and showing its strenghts and weaknesses.
The model allows to understand several elements: the instant availability of information, company processes and their coverage by the application, the relationship between business and decision-making processes; the gap between data and information.
The Model’s phases
Our integrated business knowledge model can be structured into four main planning phases corresponding to methodologies and products of reference, as we can see below.
Business Intelligence Model Phase
Analysis and definition of strategic/decision-making processes. Here is where every decision-making process of the company is defined and understood and where strategies are broken down into objectives, levers, indicators, reports, etc., and here is where the business knowledge distribution pattern, is defined and structured.
Business Process Management Phase
Analysis and definition of corporate processes. Here is where every operating, tactical and decision-making process of the company is defined, included, improved and completed by software application. Here is also where models of corporate operating and decision-making processes are formalized.
Application Integration Model Phase
Analysis of software application. Here is where every software application together with its functions is analyzed and designed. The way to corporate knowledge integration strenghtens together with its application component.
Data Integration Model Phase
Data analysis and information collection. The path to the integration of business knowledge and processes together with the information data system of the company.
The Model’s Flexibility
Flexibility is one of the most important features of the Enterprise Business Integration Model that it can guarantees during the problem solution search connected with the specific company.
Analysis, infact, can start from data model and arrive at the Business Intelligence Model (bottom-up) or the other way round (top-down).
It can start from one of the two intermediate levels to go up (middle-up) or to go down (middle-down), as well.
Model and different methodologies
DATA INTEGRATION MODEL
Data Base Reverse Engineering
A metodology used for the full mapping of the data model in use within the company. To begin with, the tables, their fields, the relations etc., are analized and documented. Then a conceptual model is worked out through reengineering techniques, so that it can set the basis for the right business interpretation and for the definition of a plan for data integration.
Data Quality Assurance
It is a metodology used for definition and maintenance of the data quality achieved through the reengineered model. All the logic and physical rules of the Data Quality Assurance are re-defined, meaning that a series of automatic controls are put in place to constantly monitor data integrity.
APPLICATION INTEGRATION MODEL
Application Reverse Engineering
A metodology used for the full mapping of the applications, implemented or to be implemented in the company. The information assessed during the mapping process is managed by a specific software application which allows its later reuse for several analysis. The map of software application will show every function, on line and batch, the link flows between functions, the existing interrelations, and so on.
Requirement Engineering
It allows to define the level of automation, through the analysis of corporate requirements for business decision-making processes (related to operating and management systems). These requirements allow to make a Gap Analysis between implemented and not implemented software applications.
BUSINESS PROCESS INTEGRATION MODEL
Business Process Analysis
This method allows to assess, interpret and classify every business process of the company. It also allows to analyze interrelations and links and to notice their behaviour into the organizational structure.
Decisional Process Analysis
This method allows to assess, interpret and classify every decision-making process of the company. It also allows to analyze interrelations and links and to notice their behaviour into the organizational structure.
BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE MODEL
Corporate Business Interpretation
It is a method that allows to interpret corporate business starting from information provided by the model of the company. The objective is to formalize the corporate business model.
Requirement Engineering
It allows to define business and decision-making processes (related to the managerial support system) level of automation, through the analysis of corporate requirements. These requirements allow to make a Gap Analysis between implemented and not implemented software applications.
The Model and the products

Our consultancy model based on the Enterprise Business Integration Model allows to define and to create a set of products that will then become the necessary tools to formalize and centralize business knowledge inside the company, after it had been detected.
The graph briefly shows the products which can be created by the model. Every product is related to the project phase foreseen by the model itself.
The Model and the Gap analysis

First of all, the “Enterprise Business Integration Model” allows to gather every corporate model in one only plan. They are then connected to each other so that we can define the first level of integration.
Once implemented, the Enterprise Business Integration Model allows to compare the models all the way through the definition of the Gap between Business and Applications, between vertical/down data models and integrated models, etc.
In such a way we can clearly understand the gap between existing information available and that needed. We can understand what the corporate processes are and what part of them is covered by applications. It allows to know the gap between executive, operating and management processes, as well as the gap between data and information; etc.
We can calculate the dispersion index of the models, the level of integration needed for the Business, the critical integration points, information aggregation level and the operating and decision-making processes backlog.
